Decorate a Pumpkin
It's the time of year to make the coolest pumpkin! But you can do much more than just carve a design, you can cover it in glitter or paint it and smack some googly eyes on it! There are so many awesome things you can do! Bring in your pumpkin on Saturday, October 25 to have the chance to win a two minute shopping spree here at the store!

Rake up some leaves
With all these leaves falling off the trees, they are probably all over your yard. Why not rake them up for your parents? While you're at it, make a big pile of leaves and jump into them. It's as fun as it sounds!

Make your own Apple Cider
Apple Cider is such a yummy drink, and it's so easy to make! Here is a great recipe that you can make with the help of your parents.

4-5 cups apple juice
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
cinnamon sticks and apple slices to garnish.

In a small pot heat the apple juice and spices over low/medium heat. Stir often while the mixture is heating so the spices will blend into the juice (you don't want any spice clumps). Once it's hot pour into two mugs and garnish with apple slices and cinnamon sticks. Serve warm, while wearing a turtle-neck sweater (Note: turtle-neck sweater is optional).

Googly Eyes
Give something some Googly Eyes and it instantly becomes hilarious. We've been armed with a giant tub of googly eyes and some double stick tape and have so much fun with it. Sometimes we get to work and find that something like the stapler, the fridge, or even the door has a set of silly eyes.

Climb a tree
This is an essential summer activity for any kid to do. Pick a really big tree and limbs that aren't too steep. If it is your first time climbing a tree, get an adult or older sibling to help you or spot you just in case you fall. If you find a comfy branch, bring a book or eat your lunch in the tree!

Give a Pogo Jumper a try
Kidoozie, a brand that is carried here at Durango Toy Depot has an awesome alternative to the pogo stick; The Hop and Squeak Pogo Jumper. The base is a solid foam block with a squeaker inside of it. the handle is attached by a stretchy bungee tube that accommodates any height. The Pogo Jumper even supports up to 250 pounds! I must say that it is so much fun to bounce around the store.

Create your own water park! Find some sprinklers and a blue tarp and you have an exciting and refreshing slip 'n' slide. If you put some dish soap on the blue tarp, You'll have extra slip for your slide!

Reread your favorite book. When you reread your favorite books, you could pick up on things that you might have missed while reading it the first time. I like to read Harry Potter in the summer time. Plus it transports you to a different place when your are fully engulfed in a good story.

Do something nice for your friends. Give your best friend a manicure, or teach someone how to throw a baseball. Not only will it give you something to do, but you'll also make a great memory with your friends.

Create your own board game!
Just grab some old cardboard and markers and make your own version of your favorite board game! it can be very simple with moves that are decided on by dice. Use rocks as playing pieces and decorate the board with glitter and googly eyes. If you want, you can get more complex and make cards that are drawn on every turn. The possibilities are endless!

Look at bugs in the grass!
Have you even wondered what lived in the great beyond? The great beyond of the backyard of course! If you go and lay in the grass and stay very still, then you will see all sorts of bugs and critters that you wouldn't have noticed before. Then you can roll over and look at the clouds as well and see what there is to see in the sky.

Go for a hike!
Durango is a great place to live because there are so many outdoor activities to choose from! This weekend, take some time to go explore the surrounding area and hike around the town. Take a notebook and write down what wildlife you see on your walk about. Nature is pretty neat after all.

Bubble Pool

Fill a kiddie pool with really soapy water and grab a hula hoop. The hula hoop becomes your bubble wand and you get to make GINORMOUS bubbles with your friends! I bet if you stand inside the bubble, it looks like you are underwater. See how big you can make your bubbles!

Go Rafting!

Take some time to check out the beautiful Animas River that flows right though the middle of town and go on a rafting adventure. Feel the water splash on your face as you go through class two rapids. don't be afraid to splash each other!

 Read a good book!

Check out the Library and see what kind of awesome books they have! you can hang out there and read books with your parents, siblings or friends. Books can transport you to a different world where can experience everything and stay in the comfort of your favorite reading chair
