SWIMMING SPAGHETTI

Make spaghetti do tricks with this fun and fizzy experiment.

What You Need:

• uncooked spaghetti
• 1 cup of water
• 2 teaspoons of baking soda
• 5 teaspoons of vinegar
• tall clear glass

What You Do:
Put water and baking soda in the glass. Stir until the baking soda is dissolved. Break spaghetti into 1-inch pieces. Put about 6 pieces in the glass. They will sink to the bottom. Add vinegar to the mixture in the glass. Observe what happens to the pieces of spaghetti. Add more vinegar as the action starts to slow down.
What’s Going On:
When baking soda and vinegar are mixed together, a chemical reaction occurs. It produces a gas called carbon dioxide, which forms lots of bubbles on top of the mixture and smaller bubbles at the bottom of the glass. These little bubbles stick to the spaghetti and make it float to the surface, just as you do when you sit on a swimming pool noodle! When the spaghetti reaches the surface, the bubbles pop and the spaghetti sinks to the bottom.

Lets do some wacky dress up today! 

Try to find pieces from different costumes and put ALL OF THEM ON! You could be the Ruler of some made up land! Or the silliest super hero of all time! The possibilities are endless as long as you use your imagination. Today I might wear a cape and a tiara.

 Why? Because its Wacky Wednesday!!

We still don't know if it's foul play or an accident...

I think today we'll paint some train cars or just paint a train picture. 

Whatever we choose, 

we'll do it all Wacky-like so Dr. Seuss would be proud!

Frequently Asked Questions... What's New?

Starting this week, we're mixing things up a bit and presenting our version of "Wacky Wednesday".

We could do something like wearing a Lorax mustache, it could be getting the Poppers out for a target challenge, or it could be as Wacky as riding a Plasmacar all over downtown. 

At any rate, we've got some Wackiness up our sleeves and want to share it with you this Wednesday right here at the store. Take a look at the video to see what we're gonna do this week!

Fireworks!!

With the Fourth of July just around the corner, it is important to be safe you decide to use fireworks to celebrate. The fire hazards are high so take a look at these tips to make this a safe holiday!

1. Make sure an adult is present at all times.

2. Only buy legal fireworks that are approved for your area. 

3. Follow the direction closely

4. Always use fireworks with a bucket of water or hose nearby. 

5. Store fireworks in a dry and cool place. 

6. Soak all fireworks in a bucket before throwing them away

7. Have fun!

By following these simple tips, you can make sure you will have a safe and fun Fourth of July!
