Dinosaurs 101

Meet Pauline the Proganochelys: pro-GAN-oh-KELL-iss
Looks as if one of the oldest known turtles has a sense of humor and is getting ready to give the Easter bunny a run for his basket! Oh, that's funny because it also refers to the turtle and the hare!
In this case, Pauline is both the turtle and the hare!
Anyway, Pauline lived during the Late Triassic period which was about 210 million years ago, ate plants, and grew to be about 3 feet long. Pauline weighed anywhere from 50 to 100 pounds.
With her spiked neck and tail it must have been nearly impossible for Pauline to retract her head totally inside her shell for protection but with a spiked tail, which appears longer than modern turtles', she could have used it for defense against predators.
