 Colored pencils were first developed and made around 1920 by the A.W. Faber company in Stein, Germany. Shortly after that the Caran d'Ache company of Switzerland (1924) and the Schwan Stabilo Company of Germany (1925) also started to manufacture colored pencils.

Shrinky Dinks.... who wouldda thought! 

Shrinky Dinks were invented in 1973 by twomoms, Betty Morris and Kate Bloomberg of Wisconsin, as a scout project with their sons.  The first kits were sold at a local shopping mall and became very popular. Shrinky Dinks were soon licensed to be manufactured by the major toy companies of the time.. The shrink plastic is still available and can be used for anything from charms to pins.
